We’ve had the opportunity to highlight Theresa Payton. Theresa is one of the nation’s most respected authorities on secured digital transformation. She is frequently requested to advise Boards of Global Companies, CEOs, and Technology Executives. Theresa is a visionary in the digital world, leading the way as an inventor of new security designs and having an approved U.S. patent in security. She provides advice drawing from her experience as a technologist, first and now veteran cybercrime fighter, entrepreneur, and author. She has served as the first female White House CIO, is a U.S. patent holder, and is a two-time company founder and CEO!

❔What is the #1 lesson you have learned from your journey that has shaped your leadership style and approach to business?
🅰️The #1 lesson I've learned throughout my journey is the importance of focusing on human-centered designs and, for me personally, adaptability. In the dynamic landscape of the cybersecurity industry and business in general, pivoting, innovating, and embracing change is crucial. Whether it's navigating technological advancements, shifting client needs, or unexpected challenges like cybersecurity threats, the ability to adapt quickly and effectively has been instrumental in shaping my leadership style and approach to business. It's about having a clear vision but also being flexible enough to adjust course when necessary and empowering my team to do the same. This lesson has not only helped me steer Fortalice Solutions through various transformations but has also become a guiding principle in my leadership philosophy.
❔What do you see as the biggest challenge or opportunity for business leaders today? How can leaders navigate these while fostering innovation and growth?
🅰️Today's leaders face the enormous challenge of balancing innovation with operational resiliency and stability. The key is fostering a culture of creativity and continuous learning while prioritizing customer needs. By starting with human-centered designs, investing in research, embracing agility, and staying customer-centric, businesses can navigate these challenges and drive growth in a rapidly changing market.
❔What is one piece of advice you have for aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders today?
🅰️My advice to aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders is simple: Stay committed to your vision, believe in yourself, and ask for assistance. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, take calculated risks, and look for ways to cultivate a spirit of innovation. Do not underestimate the importance and power of prayer as an individual and ask others to pray with you and for your endeavors and prioritize your health and well-being.
